How this works underneath

Harbor Lane is a licensed broker. We work on the Health Insurance Marketplace — the same one as HealthCare.gov, with the same plans at the same prices.

Every plan, not a selection

You see every plan available in your county, ranked by estimated total cost for the year. Commission is not an input to that ranking.

The subsidy is already applied

Your federal credit is worked out and taken off before you see a price. No "from $X" that changes later.

A licensed agent, with a name

Someone reviews your enrollment before it completes, and that is who looks after you afterwards. Not a different call centre every time.

What having a plan actually does

A health plan is not a monthly expense — it is the ceiling on what you could end up paying if something goes wrong.

  • An accident or surgery

One night in hospital uninsured is the bill that ruins more people in this country than any other. With a plan, your spending has an annual cap.

  • A condition you already have

Diabetes, asthma, cancer — whatever it is, no plan can turn you down or charge you more for a pre-existing condition.

  • Your monthly medication

Every plan covers prescriptions. What you pay depends on each plan's drug list, and you can check it before enrolling.

  • Check-ups and prevention

Many screenings, vaccines and routine visits cost nothing at all, even before you touch your deductible.

  • A pregnancy

Before, during and after birth. Even if you are already pregnant when you apply.

  • Mental health

Therapy and substance use treatment, on the same footing as any other medical condition.

Good to know…

It depends on your county, your age, how many are in your household and what they earn. There is no list price: the quoter gives you yours in a few minutes, with the subsidy already taken off.

Because your price does not need them. All we need is a ZIP code, ages, household size and estimated income. Contact details come later, and only if you decide to enroll.

Same plans, same prices. The difference is that here you get a licensed agent assigned to help you choose and look after you afterwards, at no extra cost to you.

No. No Marketplace plan can reject you, charge you more, or refuse to cover an essential benefit because of a condition you already had. Pregnancy included.

Yes, during Open Enrollment (November 1 to January 15). Outside those dates you need a life event — moving, losing other coverage, marriage, a baby, an income change — and you have 60 days to report it.

Every plan has its own network. When you see your prices, each plan card carries a provider search and the drug list, so you can check before you enroll.

No. The carrier pays us a commission when you enroll. Your price is exactly the same one you would see on HealthCare.gov.

A licensed Harbor Lane agent reviews your enrollment before it completes. After that they are your point of contact for questions, changes and renewal.
