Frequently asked questions

What people ask us most before getting a quote.

What does Harbor Lane charge?

Nothing. The insurer pays us a commission that's already included in the plan's premium. The price you see with us is the same one you'd see going straight to the Marketplace.

Can I be turned down for a pre-existing condition?

No. No Marketplace plan can turn you down, exclude a treatment or charge you more because of your medical history. That covers any condition, including an ongoing pregnancy.

Do I need an account to get a quote?

No. You can see plans and prices with no account, no card and without giving us your phone number. When you choose a plan and start enrolling, we ask for your name, email and a contact number; that sets up your account, and all you need is a password.

When can I enroll?

During open enrollment, November 1 to January 15. Outside that window you need a qualifying life event — losing other coverage, moving, getting married or having a baby.

Do you show all plans or only some?

Every qualified plan available in your county. We're required to as an agency operating in the Marketplace, and our recommendations are ordered by estimated cost to you, not by what the plan pays us.

Who charges me the premium?

The insurer, directly. Harbor Lane doesn't process your payment or store your card details.

What if my income changes during the year?

Tell the Marketplace. The tax credit is calculated on the income you estimated; if you earn more and don't update it, you'll owe the difference at tax time.

Do you work in Spanish?

Yes. The whole site and our agents work in both English and Spanish.

Question not here?

Write to us at contact and a person will answer. If you're looking for a specific term, the insurance dictionary explains the vocabulary that shows up in plans.

Ready to see your options?

It takes a few minutes and you don't need an account.
