Enrollment periods

For 2027 coverage, open enrollment runs from November 1 to January 15. Outside that window you can only enroll if you've had a qualifying life event.

Open enrollment

It's the window when anyone can enroll without explaining or justifying anything.

  1. November 1

    Enrollment opens

First day to enroll, renew or change your plan for 2027.

  2. December 15

Last day for coverage starting January 1

Enroll after this date and your coverage won't start on January 1.

  3. January 15

    Enrollment closes

Last day to enroll or switch plans. Enroll between December 16 and this date and coverage starts February 1.

Special enrollment period

Certain life changes open a window to enroll outside open enrollment. The most common:

  • Losing other coverage — by leaving a job, turning 26 and coming off a parent's plan, or losing Medicaid.
  • Moving to another ZIP code or county where different plans are available.
  • Getting married.
  • Having a baby, adopting or taking in a foster child.

The window is limited and starts running from the event, so it's worth not letting it pass. You'll usually need a document proving it.

If you already have a plan with us

Your plan usually renews itself. Even so it's worth reviewing each year: premiums, doctor networks and the tax credit you qualify for all change from one year to the next, and last year's best plan may not be this year's.
